I have imaged M42 – Orion Nebula in the past (M42 – Orion Nebula) with my larger 8″ imaging Newtonian Astrograph. I recently acquired a new 72mm APO Doublet refractor telescope and thought this was a fitting target for first light. I am still learning this scope but pleased with the level of detail attained with limited acquisition time. Regardless of how many times I image it, Orion is still a remarkable sight.
