NGC 2024 – Flame Nebula is an emission nebula located within the constellation Orion. Altinak (one of the brightest stars in the night sky) shines intense radiation on a nearby gas cloud causing it to emit light. Dark gas and dust lies between us and the emission nebula resulting in the unique dark details.
